Playing styles and prediction

After dropping down the rankings, Nakashima is back into the world’s top 100 after a couple of deep runs at Challenger level. The American’s mix of athleticism and serving power makes him a tricky player to face and will now look to gain more momentum over the next couple of months.

Evans will aim to use the slice to force shorter balls from Nakashima as he will look to play aggressively on return. Meanwhile Nakashima will be aggressive on serve and use the angles to limit Evans’ creativity from the baseline. This will be a match between two players who are at opposite ends of confidence levels. Although Evans isn’t in the best form, it’s more than possible to see him winning this match.

Prediction: Evans in three sets.
