Despite losing in final round qualifying, Liam Broady is into the main draw of Banja Luka as a lucky loser after Marco Cecchinato’s withdrawal and first up for the Brit is home favourite Damir Dzumhur.

Broady is the more consistent player on serve and return but the Brit will look to improve his first serve percentage as he won’t want to give Dzumhur too many opportunities to break.

 

 

Playing styles and prediction

After a promising start to the season, Dzumhur’s form has tailed off in recent weeks as he looks to gain inspiration from previous form on clay. The 30 year-old will compete on the ATP tour in front of his home crowd for the first time in his career which will surely be one of the best moments of his career as he edges nearer to the end of his tennis career.

Broady will look to dominate on return and will need to improve his first serve percentage if he wants to neutralise Dzumhur’s clinical break point conversion rate. The Bosnian will look to use his footwork to force Broady into erratic errors. This match will come down to consistency which Broady just about edges but the home crowd may inspire Dzumhur to new heights as the Bosnian won’t have too many more opportunities to play in front of his friends and family.

Prediction: Broady in three sets.
