Playing styles and prediction

Van Assche is a young and talented player who has explosive power from the baseline and favours indoor conditions the most. The 19 year-old is already inside the world’s top 100 and will look to make a major impact in 2024 as he searches for consistency as well as a steady rise up the rankings.

Norrie will look to use depth to force tactical errors from Van Assche as he looks to be aggressive from the shorter ball. Meanwhile Van Assche will look to dominate on serve and use his backhand to create opportunities to attack Norrie’s inconsistency on the forehand. This will be a tricky opening test for Norrie but one that will be beneficial to the Brit for this year as these were the types of matches he was losing last season.

Prediction: Norrie in straight sets. Β Β
