Cameron Norrie [3] def Nick Kyrgios 6-1 6-4
Cameron Norrie extended his winning streak to five matches as he reached the Atlanta quarter-finals after a dominating display over Nick Kyrgios. The in-form Brit started where he left off at Los Cabos as he dictated play mixing up the angles, pace and height of his shots.
Norrie took a 5-0 lead as Kyrgios only won 6 of 15 points on serve with his usual big-serving performance being neutralised by the Brit’s supreme returning. Eventually Kyrgios won a game but Norrie ensured that’s all it was as he took the opening set in 21 minutes.
In the second set Kyrgios managed to win 93% of his first service points as he found more consistency with his groundstrokes. This time it was the Australian who was showing variety with his shot-making and threatening to break Norrie’s serve. However the Brit held firm and won the crucial points to remain in the second set as he continued to make Kyrgios move around the court.
Eventually Norrie’s ability to dictate the pace of the match would pay off as the Brit broke Kyrgios in the ninth game with the Australian being tactically erratic with his decision-making. The Brit closed out the match in impressive fashion as he sealed a spot in the last eight in Atlanta.

Norrie narrowly leads most of the statistics with Ruusuvuori needing to up his serving stats in particular if he wants to reach the semi-finals.
Playing Styles and Prediction
The world number 78 has a game suited to fast hard courts as he is able to dictate points through other players’ pace and can dominate rallies from the baseline. Since reaching the fourth round at the Miami Open, Ruusuvuori hasn’t won back-to-back matches at an event until Atlanta this week which shows where his strengths really are.
Norrie will need to produce similar serving and returning stats against Ruusuvuori than he did against Kyrgios in his first match. The Brit’s form and confidence suggest that he should continue his winning form although Ruusuvuori has the game to give Norrie a proper test in the humid Atlanta conditions.
Prediction: Norrie in three sets.
