Playing Styles and Prediction

After a run to the final in Tokyo last year, Karatsev has had a nightmare season in 2024 with injuries halting his progress as well as only recording one win from seven tournaments. However the world number 107 now returns to hard courts knowing that when he is on form, he can be a dangerous player to face and will hope he can return to his best form in the second half of the season.

Harris will aim to take control of rallies with the forehand as he will approach the net to shorten the points up. Meanwhile Karatsev will use the backhand to force Harris behind the baseline as he aims to pick up confidence in all areas of the court. This should be a tough match for Harris but the Brit’s more confident form this season makes him slight favourite in what should be a long first round match.

Prediction: Harris in three sets.
