Draper is the more clinical player judging on last year’s statistics however there has been clear improvement in Kwon’s returning throughout last season.

Playing Styles and Prediction

Kwon has a solid baseline game built on athleticism on power especially on the backhand side. The South Korean loves faster courts which suit his serving game which was seen during his valiant effort against Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon last year. Kwon will look to break in the top 50 this season and made a good start by beating Dominic Thiem in qualifying.

Draper will look to gradually work his way into form by producing consistent serving numbers and looking to be the more proactive player. The Brit will have to be aware of Kwon’s counter-attacking qualities from the baseline however if Draper can dictate the tempo of the match then he should have too much for the South Korean.

Prediction: Draper in three sets.
