Playing styles and prediction

Kecmanovic had a major breakthrough last year and became a seed regularly at the Grand Slams. However the Serb will need to improve if he wants to become a regular top 20 player especially on return and that’s what Kecmanovic will look to do ahead of the first Grand Slam of the season.

Edmund will look to dictate play through the forehand and will look to make consistently deep returns to trouble Kecmanovic from the baseline. Meanwhile the Serb will look to set up effective patterns of play to make Edmund run and test the Brit’s stamina.

This will be another tough match for the Brit but one which will show him what’s required in order to return to the top level again. The key thing heading into the Australian Open will be consistency on serve and that’s something Edmund will be hoping to implement against an elite player like Kecmanovic.

Prediction: Kecmanovic in three sets
