The doubles season once again delivered some entertaining moments for British players as it’s time to look back on the 2024 season as there is optimism of more success in 2025 for the doubles contingent.
1) Henry Patten wins maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon
The biggest highlight of the season was Henry Patten winning his maiden Grand Slam title at Wimbledon. The Brit started in tennis as an IBM worker but achieved his lifelong dream by claiming the title at Wimbledon alongside Harri Heliovaara as they defeated Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson in a thrilling final that lasted under three hours.
It was only their third tournament as a team but they capped off their fairytale week in style and will hope they can build on that momentum in 2025 with more success in their sights as Patten ended the year as world number 14.
2) Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram end iconic partnership
After suffering a shock third round exit at the US Open as well as an underwhelming season, Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram finally announced their split after six years. The duo won three consecutive US Open titles from 2021-2023 as well as winning the Nitto ATP Finals. They also became world number one in April 2022 and enjoyed an incredible spell at the top of the game.
However Salisbury will now be looking ahead to the 2025 season as he ended the season with Jean-Julien Rojer. However Salisbury will always be grateful for the memories he created with Ram.
“I really enjoyed our six years playing together,” Salisbury told the ATP website.
“We had some great success, more than we anticipated or thought that we would do. We are really proud of everything we’ve done together. We have worked really hard and got the best out of each other.
“We have loved every minute of it, even the ups and downs. We have had a lot of tough times to come through and achieve the highs that we have had. We are proud of everything we have done and grateful to have had this amazing partnership.”

3) Murray ends career with emotional Olympic run alongside Evans
There is only one place to end and that is with Andy Murray. The three-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one ended his career in 2024 and did so in style with an emotional run at the Olympic Games in Paris. Murray teamed up with Dan Evans and the duo saved seven match points to reach the quarter-finals in Paris as they were one win away from a medal match.
However their run ended against Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul with Murray ending his career in the most Murray way possible through grit and determination. They were not the only British duo to endure success at the Olympics as Katie Boulter and Heather Watson also reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated by Roland Garros champions Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini, who eventually won the gold medal.
