Speculation had been rife that Olympic champion Anthony Joshua was to be the name revealed by Hearn today, but it seems boxing fans will have to wait a little longer before his switch to the professional ranks.
Selby is highly rated domestically, and has only lost once in 15 professional bouts – a development fight whilst he was still cutting his teeth early in his career.
Hearn’s excitement at the signing is evident, using his press conference and social media to describe Selby as a “future world champ”.
Indeed, Selby already holds British and Commonwealth titles in his weight class, and will be looking to use this latest development to springboard to bigger things.
He will make his debut on April 20th, as part of a televised card starring Brian Rose.
