WTA Charleston Results & Quick Hits
- The poor weather in Charleston played havoc with the schedule, forcing Caroline Wozniacki to pack in two matches in one day again, taking out first Annika Beck, and then Anastasia Rodionova.
- Home crowd favourite Shelby Rogers not only ousted top seed Madison Keys but keeps rolling on as she beat Japanese youngster Naomi Osaka on Thursday to reach the quarter-finals in her home tournament for the time in her career. Not bad for a player who had only won a single match at her home tournament.
- Next up for her will be Mirjana Lucic-Baroni who continues a good year backing up her run to the Australian Open semi-final with deep runs at both Acapulco and Miami.

WTA Monterrey Results and Quick Hits
- What a difference a win makes? After closing out a tough three set opener against Nina Stojanovic, Heather Watson continued her title defence with a solid win over No, 6 seed and wild-card Ekaterina Makarova. It was her first back to back win in 2017, and it earns her a clash with the World No. 1 and top seed Angelique Kerber.
- Kerber meanwhile made up for her slow start against Francesca Schiavone, where she dropped the first set, with losing just four games on the way to the quarter-final as she breezed past Mandy Minella.
- Talking of better results, Carla Suárez Navarro also returned to winning ways since struggling with injury as she too notched up her first back to back wins since Linz last year. She will face Alizé Cornet in tonight’s quarter-finals.
