ATP Shanghai Results & Quick Hits

  • Novak Djokovic picked up his 30th ATP World Tour Masters 1000 win this year beating qualifier Mischa Zverev – and having to come from a set down to boot. It has been a solid week for the older Zverev brother – he will return to the Top 100 for the first time since 6 June 2011 with this run.
  • Andy Murray breezed past David Goffin who is still to win a set from the Brit, as his plans to catch up to World No. Djokovic continues a-pace. He will face Gilles Simon in the semi-final.
  • Simon had to come from a set down against the American, who stunned Milos Raonic yesterday in a spirited encounter between the pair – but Simon was also in giant-killing form, after downing Stan Wawrinka.

WTA Hong Kong Results & Quick Hits

  • Top seed, World No. 1 and last year’s finalist Angelique Kerber suffered a surprise exit at the hands of the feisty Daria Gavrilova, who sent the German packing in straight sets. Kerber will bid to finish the year as No. 1 at the WTA Finals in Singapore at the end of the month.
  • Get ready for the battle of the defenders as Caroline Wozniacki and Jelena Jankovic get ready to square off in the semi-final – the two former World No. 1s are enjoying a resurgent end to their seasons, with Jankovic looking to defend her title.

WTA Linz Results & Quick Hits

  • The Road to Singapore is right here. With Johanna Konta almost certainly out of the running for a player’s berth, with no tournament in hand next week, her closest rivals Madison Keys and Dominica Cibulkova have been going from strength to strength.
  • Cibulkova put paid to defending champion Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova’s title defence and kept her hopes alive of capping off her year at the WTA Finals. She still needs to reach the final to overtake the Brit this week.
  • Top seed Garbiñe Muguruza secured her spot already this week ahead of her quarter-final to make her third straight appearance at the WTA Finals, if she can recover in time from a fall and a rolled ankle, which saw her retire in her quarter-final against Viktorija Golubic.

  • With top seed and defending champion Agnieszka Radwanska out of Tianjin, the way is clear for Svetlana Kuznetsova to snap at the heels of the main chasing pack for the Road to Singapore, with Moscow still to count for the veteran Russian – she will face Alison Riske in the semi-final.
  • Last year’s finalist Danka Kovinic is still set for another run to the final – she took out the fifth seed Monica Puig in straight sets to book her spot in the semi-finals, where she will face Peng Shuai.
