  • The quarter-finals are set – with one notable absence following Rafael Nadal’s exit, Stan Wawrinka joined the top seed casualty list, beaten by Gilles Simon.
  • Andy Murray eased past Lucas Pouille and will take on David Goffin – the Belgian has never been able to make much of a dent against the Brit.
  • Novak Djokovic looks to also be rounding into form – perhaps he is finding his internal joy again
  • There is a Zverev in the quarter-final but it is not Alexander, but older brother Mischa who was a contemporary of Djokovic in their younger days.

  • We had a twist in the Road to Singapore, as Johanna Konta withdraw from the tournament shortly before her second round match with an abdominal injury – she now relies on other results going her way for her main rivals in Linz.
