  • Having downed Rafael Nadal on his return to the tour, defending champion Milos Raonic ran out of steam against an inspired Grigor Dimitrov who makes his second Brisbane International final. Dimitrov save a set point before breaking for the first set, and ploughed ahead to dethrone Raonic
  • Kei Nishikori was on hand to deliver his own shock as he ousted Stan Wawrinka and is prepared for a fight from a rejuvenated Dimitrov who teamed up with Andy Murray’s previous coach Dani Vallverdu.

  • Andy Murray’s winning streak of 28 matches dating back to September last year finally came to an end in a showdown with World No. 2 and defending champion Novak Djokovic. The pair battled over three hours, which Murray saving three match points and winning four games in a row to level the match, before Djokovic edged him in the decider.

  • Katerina Siniakova made her breakthrough this week in quite some style. She not only upset Simona Halep and Johanna Konta, claiming two Top 10 scalps in a week, she also claimed her first tour level title.
  • She reeled off four games after going down a break to Alison Riske in the first set, to take the lead, before taking control of the second set.

  • The first final of 2017 was decided in the early hours as another maiden WTA title was decided. Lauren Davis again got the better of Ana Konjuh in Auckland, having met her three years ago. This time was more decisive for the American who won her first title on her third try.
