WTA Dubai Results & Quick Hits
- The biggest upset of the day was 17-year-old Cici Bellis, who bettered fourth seed Agnieszka Radwanska in three sets, to reach the quarter-finals. Having missed start of the season with a hip injury, and failing to get out of qualifying in Doha, she seems to have found her groove and faces Caroline Wozniacki
- It was set to be an Olympic final rematch between top seed Angelique Kerber and Monica Puig, but the World No. 2 was a far more formidable foe this time around. She did not allow the Puerto Rican to get into her game and eased through into quarter-finals – she faces Ana Konjuh next, who downed eighth seed Elena Vesnina.
- Wozniacki is the only former Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship finalist left in the draw with Kerber playing down the possibility of reclaiming the World No. 1 spot if she wins the title.
