When it first hit the European Tour roster, the Dubai Desert Classic was the first to be held in the Arabian Peninsula – and is now one of six in the region. As part of the ongoing strategy to help grow golf, both in a professional capacity and casual golf tourism in Dubai, it will always welcome a strong field due to the money offered to the top golfers.

Talking of which – Rory McIlroy will be making his return, having chosen to skip the PGA Sentry Tournament of champions.

As with last week, several English LIV golfers are also in the field, which should make for some entertaining headlines.
