PREMIER LEAGUE – As Fantasy Premier League returns this weekend, which budget players could boost your points tally in Gameweek 8?
Hwang Hee-Chan (5.6)
To open Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 8’s budget selections, we look to Wolves and a player who has been Bruno Lage‘s biggest impact player since taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo this past summer, Hwang Hee-Chan.
After Raul Jimenez finally ended his goal drought in GW6, it is Hwang however, who is catching the eye in the Black Country.
Netting a brace against Newcastle before the international break, the Korean has two more goals this term than his teammate, and at a price-tag of almost a full 2.0 less.
For a team who find themselves in the lower half of the table, Hwang’s rating of 13th for threat amongst FPL forwards is quite a feat, and his ownership is on the rise, now towards 5%.
On the road, Wolves have carried a greater threat without the pressures of Molineux and against a Newcastle side that themselves are under a serious weight to perform themselves given their takeover, Hwang – and indeed his owners – could be the man to benefit this weekend
Bryan Mbeumo (5.5)
Filling up the midfield this week is a player we tipped earlier this season, and now Bryan Mbeumo is now finally beginning to make FPL waves.
Continuing Brentford’s sterling start to Premier League life, the Bees’ French forward is becoming a handy source of points at a snip, now closing on teammate Ivan Toney‘s points tally and at a considerably cheaper outlay (0.9).
Just four points behind the Brentford striker, Mbeumo has netted in two of the last three outings and caused West Ham all sorts of problems last time out, grabbing a goal and a bonus point.
Owned by under 2% of managers in the game, Mbeumo in GW8 tries his hand at a Chelsea side who have now failed to keep a clean sheet during the last three games in all competitions.
If we contrast that with their hosts having scored twice in their last three league games, boss Thomas Frank will be optimistic of causing their west London neighbours a similar amount of discomfort as they did against Liverpool. Mbeumo will be central to those ambitions.
Ben White (4.4)
Completing GW8’s bargain bucket collection, Arsenal defenders are now returning to the FPL radar and in Ben White, fantasy managers could be poised to round off the weekend in style.
After a nightmare start to the season, the Gunners are now unbeaten in four having conceded just one goal in 360 minutes of game time.
Having played every minute during that period, White has been central to those efforts, with three clean sheets to his name. A statistic that Crystal Palace are set to challenge on Monday night.
As Patrick Vieira makes an emotional return to Arsenal, the Eagles are set to test the north Londoners’ disciplined back line, one which since three back-to-back defeats has looked largely unshaken.
Palace have failed to score in two of three games on the road so far this term, and narratives aside with Vieira’s first game against his former club, White’s value looks impossible to ignore currently. The defender could again reward his growing number of owners in GW8.
Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 8 deadline is Saturday, 11:00 UK time.
