PREMIER LEAGUE – As another round of fixtures hurtle into view, who can make the difference from the Fantasy Premier League bargain bin for Gameweek 15?
Adam Armstrong, Southampton (6.0)
To begin the latest round of Fantasy Premier League bargain picks, Southampton striker Adam Armstrong moves into view for Gameweek 15.
Having lost two of the last three league outings – but winning the previous two beforehand – the Saints’ season continues along its inconsistent path, however, GW15 looks promising, not least for Armstrong.
With a goal and two assists in the last five games, the Englishman drew blanks versus a rampant Liverpool and again at home to Leicester in midweek, but the visit of South Coast neighbours Brighton should be more promising.
Still Southampton’s biggest threat in FPL rating terms, the travelling Seagulls snatched a late point away to West Ham, but have still conceded five goals in the last three on the road.
Derby day at St. Mary’s should throw up plenty of chances, and valued at a flat 6.0, Armstrong looks to be one of the strong options for points, away from the premium pack.
Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal (5.2)
Could Gabriel Martinelli be the latest bargain Arsenal player to snap up after the rise of his team-mates? GW15 could be his moment to shine.
Returning from injury last weekend versus Newcastle, the Brazilian wasted no time in netting the Gunners’ second at the Emirates last Saturday, and added an assist to his recent FPL tally against Manchester United on Thursday night.
As boss Mikel Arteta looks to continue to shuffle his pack ahead of the festive period, Martinelli could fit the bill as Arsenal begin to be hit by issues with form and injury in attack and midfield.
Making the trip to Merseyside for the second time in four, Arsenal shipped four against Liverpool, but here, against an Everton side that continue to concede at an alarming rate, the north Londoners will fancy returning to winning ways after their Old Trafford loss.
With the players to cause havoc to the Toffees’ back line, Martinelli might be a smart choice for GW15 and with no concern of expense.
Rico Henry, Brentford (4.5)
Completing GW15’s selections, Brentford are back on the FPL radar but this time in defence, with their flying wing-back Rico Henry getting the nod.
A regular in Thomas Frank’s set-up since the start of the season, it has been a switch to a 3-5-2 though, that has best served Henry, grabbing goals in GWs 11 and 12.
Adding an assist in the Bees’ 1-0 win over Everton last Sunday, Rico’s stock has risen but is still only attracts less than 2% of FPL manager and remains at a bargain fee.
With a trip to a nervy Leeds to come this weekend, Brentford’s compact formation could be difficult for the Whites to handle, and going forward, Henry could again pop up in the left of attack just as he did away to Newcastle and at home to Norwich.
A potential FPL points swing.
Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 15 deadline is Saturday 11:00 UK time.
