PREMIER LEAGUE – As a busy seven days of Fantasy Premier League kicks into gear, who are this weekend’s differentials and at a snip for Gameweek 13?
Christian Benteke, Crystal Palace (6.4)
To begin our Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13 picks, Christian Benteke is back on the radar in attack.
It’s now four goals this season for the Crystal Palace striker, who has become the focal point of Patrick Vieira‘s attack since the Frenchman took the reins in south London during the summer.
Grabbing a brace away to Burnley last time out, Benteke has netted four times since GW8, but his interest is yet to truly spike, owned by just 2.7% of fantasy managers.
A home clash with Aston Villa point to more spoils for the Eagles here and though Steven Gerrard‘s tenure began well last weekend, his first away trip as manager in the Premier League could be a different task altogether.
Shipping six times in the last three on the road could be an irrelevance under new management, but Palace are buoyed of late and Benteke should be supplied with plenty of ammunition to keep his form going, rewarding his still cult FPL following.
Mathias Normann, Norwich City (4.5)
This week’s midfield foray represents one of quite a leap, but in Mathias Normann, fantasy owners could get a handy points boost and at a very cheap price.
As Norwich seek their third league win on the bounce in GW13, Dean Smith looked to have shaken up the Canaries in attack during his first game in charge versus Southampton last time out.
Normann was the chief architect in midfield in GW12, and operating behind the front three, the Norwegian scored his first Premier League goal away to Brentford in before the international break and could be on for more opportunities to double his total at home to Wolves this weekend.
The Norfolk side may not exactly be the flavour of the month in FPL circles, but with a new manager comes a new bounce and with the on-loan Rostov man having played every league minute since GW9, Normann could just fill a void if funds are at a premium.
Nuno Tavares, Arsenal (4.3)
To complete our budget line-ups for GW13, Nuno Tavares looks a decent bet for Arsenal as Newcastle United travel to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.
Though there is the risk of rotation with Kieran Tierney back to full fitness, the Portuguese has played the last four games, where he caught the eye against Watford and Leicester City of late with his roaming runs forward.
Grabbing clean sheets in both games, Tavares brings a balance to the Gunners’ set-up and boss Mikel Arteta might not be willing to disrupt what, in large part, has been a solid unit of late – aside from last weekend’s 4-0 loss at Anfield.
The Magpies’ first game with Eddie Howe in charge will provide a test, but during his Bournemouth days, Howe rarely saw his side find the net.
Given Tavares’ status as one of the cheapest defenders of the bigger teams in the Premier League, in GW13, the full-back could prove his worth.
Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 13 deadline is Saturday, 11:00.
