Sebastien Haller
It may have taken West Ham United new signing a few Gameweeks to settle in, but after scoring a brace against Watford last weekend, Sebastien Haller is set to hit form before the international break in Gameweek 4.
Given a baptism of fire against Manchester City and then missing the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion, Haller netted twice in nine second half minutes away to the Hornets – the second of which in acrobatic fashion – to show some a flavour of the same prolific striker that netted 15 Bundesliga goals last term.
As Norwich City visit the London Stadium on Saturday, the Irons will be eyeing another bagful of goals against a side that whilst may have scored a total of six Premier League goals in three games on their return to the top flight, have also shipped seven.
We have already discussed Norwich’s proclivities on the road to come this season, and as West Ham play their second home game of the new term – against far likelier a genial opposition – Haller’s eyes will be lighting up this weekend.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Striking honour for our Gameweek 4 team also go the capital, as the North London derby headlines the weekend’s action. The choice of what man to go for in attack for our Fantasy Premier League side is a close call, but as Arsenal are the hosts, and given that the Lilywhites are looking rather out-of-sorts currently, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gets the nod.
Grabbing a goal or an assist to open his fantasy points account for the season, the Gabonese has always risen the occasion in this game and netted a brace in the same fixture last season.
Spurs in defence meanwhile will have been rocked with their home defeat to Newcastle last Sunday, and as Jan Vertonghen continues to frozen out by his manager, rumours claim Mauricio Pochettino coould himself be in charge of his last game for Spurs.
If that is the case, Arsenal will be wanting to make Pochettino’s exit an explosive one. Harry Kane is unquestionably just as much of threat and simple loves scoring against his North London rivals, but on home turf, Aubemeyang could be at his clinical best once more.
Aymeric Laporte
Champions Manchester City entertain Brighton this weekend, with the hosts looking to keep up the early pace with Liverpool, in case the Reds slip up at Burnley. Aymeric Laporte could be at the centre of those efforts.
Whilst Pep Guardiola’s men have kept just one out of three clean sheets so far, the Citizens’ French centre-back has been omnipresent in the back four to begin the campaign, but also as an existing threat from set-pieces.
Laporte scored three times last season, with three further assists to the 18 clean sheets he allotted last term. As the Seagulls visit the Etihad fresh from defeat at the AMEX Stadium last weekend, this will be a real test of bouncebackability for Graham Potter’s men.
The visitors may be a tough nut to crack here, which is why we are going for a City defender as the best chance of solid points haul. City are a side that have a penchant for racking up corners in particular, and that plays firmly into Laporte’s ball park.
Nathan Redmond
After picking up their first win this season, Southampton will look build on that momentum by taking advantage of their further uncertainties of Manchester United on the South coast, in particular their defence.
Nathan Redmond will be looking to be chief benefactor this weekend, as last weekend also saw the midfielder notch his first goal of the season. Since Ralph Hasenhuttl’s tenure began with the Saints, Redmond has become a focal point in the Southampton attack, and could be set to cash in during Gameweek 4.
Despite not having had the greatest of starts to the 2019/20 campaign, problems continue to dog Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s charges and a trip to Southampton wont be relished even with a decent top flight record here.
United still have issues on the flanks in attempting to balance the team, and with the width the Saints possess – with Redmond positioned centrally – the former England attacker could be in the points here.
Emerson Palmieri
To round off the Fantasy Premier League picks for the Gameweek, Chelsea’s flying full-back Emerson Palmieri is now fully in our sights, having bumped Marcos Alonso onto the Blues bench – for now at least.
Since the arrival of Frank Lampard, the Brazilian left-back has appeared on many fantasy radars, and with little sign of the Spaniard being brought back into the fold, Emerson should benefit against the Blades this weekend.
Sheffield United put in a steely performance on opening day at the Vitality, but a trip to Stamford Bridge is on another level altogether – even if Chelsea are yet to keep a clean sheet.
The former Roma full-back has already hit the bar this term, and playing a similar role as Alonso this term, Emerson will grab more than a few point hauls. This weekend could be the first.
Premier League Gameweek 4 begins on Saturday, as Southampton host Manchester United at St. Mary’s Stadium, kick-off 12:30pm.
