- Kyle Edmund vs Daniel Munoz- De La Nava preview
- Head to head: 0-0
Doha, Qatar- Kyle Edmund is in second round action at the Qatar Open on Wednesday when he faces Daniel Munoz-De La Nava.
Britwatch Tennis:
The British number three is coming in off an excellent straight sets victory over Martin Klizan on Monday where he only dropped five games en route to a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Munoz De La Nava on the other hand scored one of the biggest wins of his career with a three sets victory over fifth seed Feliciano Lopez.
The Spaniard is the more experienced of the two being 13 years older than Edmund. Munoz- De La Nava will be spending his 17th year on tour this season but is playing his best tennis yet and is at a career high ranking of 75 in the world.
The leftie has mainly applied his trade on the challenger tour but has reached the quarter finals of Estoril in 2012 and Delray Beach in 2013.
Edmund ranks 102 places below his opponent but is at the opposite end of the career spectrum. The Brit played marvellously against another leftie in Klizan in the opening round and a repeat performance will likely be enough to defeat Munoz- Del La Nava.
The Spaniard will present a more consistent test than Klizan who is a very erratic player even at the best of times. However it is a match Edmund will be expecting himself to win as he looks to book a quarter final place.
Awaiting the winner will be either Tomas Berdych or Damir Dzumhur. The Czech was successful in disposing of Sergiy Stakhovsky on Tuesday and will be a huge test for Edmund if they meet in the last eight. Berdych vs Dzumhur is also scheduled to take place on Wednesday.
Edmund and Munoz- De La Nava are expected on court on Wednesday.
