Eden Silva claims doubles title in ITF Les Franqueses del Valles

LES FRANQUESES DEL VALLES, SPAIN – Eden Silva & Jessika Ponchet and took the title in the ITF 60K event.

Eden Silva teamed up with Jessika Ponchet and entered the ITF 60K event in Spain. In the first round the Brit/French pair were drawn against the third seeds Jana Fett & Maria Sanchez. The Croatian/American pair got a jump on Silva & Ponchet and took the first set. The Brit/French fought back in the second securing a break to level the match up. In the match tiebreak Silva & Ponchet eased through into the quarter-final 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.

In the quarter-final the Brit/French pair were against Eva Guerrero Alvarez & Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales. The Spaniards tried hard to break the serve of Silva & Ponchet, however they were unable to do so. No matter what Guerrero Alvarez & Maristany Zuleta De Reales threw at the Brit/French pair was answered. Silva & Ponchet moved into the semi final in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

The semi-final saw the Brit/French against Emily Webley-Smith & Mariam Bolkvadze. The Brit/Georgian stayed close in the first set before Silva & Ponchet broke serve and had the lead. In the second set Webley-Smith & Bolkvadze were outclassed by the Brit/French pair only managing to win one game. Silva & Ponchet progressed to the final in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.

In the final Silva & Ponchet were against the all British team of Jodie Burrage & Olivia Nicholls. Although trying hard the Brits were unable to get the breaks needed to get ahead of Silva & Ponchet. Ultimately it was the Brit/French pairing that lifted the title in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.

Joe Salisbury with Rajeev Ram were defeated by Guillermo Durán & Máximo González in the first round in Estoril 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.

Luke Bambridge & Jonny O’Mara were defeated by Jérémy Chardy & Fabrice Martin in the final in Estoril 7-5, 7-6(3).

Dom Inglot with Rohan Bopanna were defeated by Marcelo Demoliner & Divij Sharan in the first round in Munich 6-3, 3-6, 12-10.

Scott Clayton with Adil Shamasdin were defeated by Marcelo Arévalo & Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela in the first round in Puerto Vallarta 6-2, 6-3.

Toby Martin with Davide Tortora were defeated by Lenny Hampel & Jules Okala in the first round in Italy 6-0, 4-6, 10-6.

Naiktha Bains with Anna Bondar were defeated by Gabriela Cé & Chiara Scholl in the final in Italy            6-0, 7-5.

Scott Duncan with Sagadat Ayap were defeated by Roman Safiullin & Evgenii Tiurnev in the first round in Uzbekistan 6-2, 6-3.

Alicia Barnett & Samantha Murray were defeated by Tamara Čurović & Polina Golubovskaya in the quarter-final in Uzbekistan 6-3, 7-5.

Alexander Jhun & Mark Whitehouse were defeated by Mykhailo Kvantaliana & Saba Purtseladze in the first round in Georgia 5-7, 7-6(5), 11-9.
