Kyle Edmund [11] v Filip Krajinovic

British No. 1 Kyle Edmund looks like he is about to finish his season on a bit of a tear. In what is a busy run up to the end of the year, with Antwerp, Vienna and Paris to close out his season, Edmund kicks off his Shanghai campaign against Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic.

We can’t read too much into their head to head, with Edmund grabbing a win just two years ago in a Rome Challenger, but their careers have changed a lot since then.

Krajinovic’s run at the end of last year reaching Challenger semi-finals and finals straight after the US Open before coming through qualification to reach the Paris Masters final has not really translated into 2018 form. His best performance was to reach the Dubai semi-final.

He can be handy on a hard court, and has a solid double-handed backhand, and with the speed of the court, Edmund will be looking to get his serve earning free points. Krajinovic reached the quart-final last week getting his first back to back wins on the tour since Miami.

This ought to be a solid win for Edmund, but it would not surprise anyone if Krajinovic gives him a test.

Prediction: Edmund in three sets.
