- Head to head 1-1
CHENNAI, INDIA– British number two Aljaz Bedene will kick off his 2016 seaosn in the opening round of the Chennai open against Vasek Pospisil.

The Chennai open provided the 26 year old with the perfect launching pad towards a career high finish of 45. A good performance this week will hold him in good stead heading into the new season with the aim of perhaps pushing for top 30 and beyond.
Bedene became a British citizen in March last year and is currently appealing to be apart of the Great Britain Davis Cup team. He would be an excellent addition to the side, adding extra squad depth that could be useful when Andy Murray can’t play.
A solid player all round, Bedene will be expecting to build on his excellent 2015 and achieve another career high ranking.
If he is to repeat his performance from last year he must first make his way past the seventh seeded Pospisil who currently sits six places higher than Bedene in the ATP world rankings at 39.
The Canadian has had his fair share of injury problems but he is back healthy and ready to continue his rankings climb. He possesses an all court game with a dangerous serve. Anyone who caught his Wimbledon match against James Ward last year will know all about it.
The head to head is tied at one a piece with Pospisil winning their last meeting in Valencia last year. It has the makings of a very close contents between too players currently on a similar level.
The winner will face either Luca Vanni or Jan Lennard Struff in round two.
Pospisil and Bedene are expected on court at roughly 13:30GMT on Tuesday.
