The Herculis EBS 2020 marks the return of the Diamond League to this year’s athletics calendar. World Heptathlon champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson will compete along with fellow Brit Laura Muir.

Athletics to assemble in Monaco for first meet back

Monaco is the destination for athletes in their first Diamond League meeting after the outbreak of the coronavirus.

A brand new Stade Louis II track will stage 14 different events over the course of the evening. The number has been reduced down from 16 male and female events in an attempt to limit the amount of people on site.

Johnson-Thompson and Muir represent Britain

Katarina Johnson-Thompson is the headlining Brit who will be competing in Monaco. Johnson-Thompson will compete in the High Jump. The Brit will be up against two Ukrainians in Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Yuliya Levchenko.

As reported in DiamondLeague.com, Johnson Thompson said: “Monaco is an event that I’ve always wanted to do. The track and the stadium are absolutely beautiful and there are always amazing performances that happen there each year.

“Most of the time, it has never really fitted into my schedule, nor my training program. This year, I really wanted to do Diamond League meets in the events I can compete in.”
